Frequently asked questions:

Dermal fillers are injectable gels made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance your body naturally produces. We use filler to replace volume that’s been lost with age, or to add subtle structure to specific areas.

Dermal fillers are not permanent. Your body gradually breaks them down over time (typically 10-12 months, depending on a few different factors).

There is little to no downtime associated with dermal filler injections. You may experience some minor discomfort, and you may experience swelling in the first few days to a week. Bruising is possible but will fade within a week or two.

Fillers like Juvederm, RHA/Redensity, Versa, and Restylane work immediately to define and provide volume to strategic areas of the face.

If you look puffy after your appointment, don’t freak out: that’s just swelling! You may be slightly swollen for the first week after your appointment. If you still don’t like how you look after one week, give us a call: we’ll work together to make sure you’re happy with your results.

Lip injections, also known as lip fillers, typically last 10-12 months. This timeline can vary based on your age, metabolism, lifestyle habits, and the amount of filler used.

First: don’t freak out! You’re probably just swollen. You may be slightly swollen or bruised for the first week or two after your appointment.

If you still don’t like how you look after one week, give us a call: we’ll work together to make sure you’re happy with your results.

If you really truly hate how the filler looks once the swelling has gone down, we can always dissolve it.

Yes, you can dissolve some fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm, RHA/Redensity, Versa, and Restylane can all be dissolved using an injection of hyaluronidase (Hylenex).

If you don’t like your filler results from another injector, you can always book an appointment with us to dissolve the old filler. We’ll talk about what went wrong, and work together on a plan that will give you results you actually love.

Biostimulators like Radiesse and Sculptra work a little differently than traditional dermal fillers. Traditional dermal fillers are primarily made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), whereas Radiesse contains tiny calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres, and Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). When injected, these biostimulators work to stimulate collagen production.

Collagen production takes time.

While Radiesse will still give you instant volume (like a traditional HA filler), your real results will begin to appear after three months.

Whether you use Sculptra or Radiesse, these biostimulators will be busy strengthening and restoring aging skin so that it’s tighter, stronger, and smoother for years to come.
